The conversion of a single-storey bungalow in Richmond, Johannesburg involves the addition of a second floor. The client owns one of the largest privately held collections of Coca-Cola memorabilia in the world. The addition of the second floor will provide the space for the museum. The house’s architectural character is derived from the extraordinary legacy of art-deco architecture in Johannesburg.
The top floor comprises a large, five-metre-tall space, which is oriented towards the Hillbrow tower in the distance. This side of the room opens up entirely towards the view.
